About The Archery Programs

Archery

Studying archery offers a unique blend of physical, mental, and emotional benefits.

  • Firstly, it improves focus, concentration, and mental discipline as archers must maintain precision and control throughout each shot.
  • Secondly, it promotes upper body strength, coordination, and balance through the repeated drawing and releasing of the bowstring.
  • Additionally, archery fosters a deep connection with nature and the outdoors, providing a sense of relaxation and mindfulness as individuals immerse themselves in the rhythmic process of shooting.
  • Moreover, it cultivates patience, resilience, and self-confidence as practitioners learn to embrace both successes and setbacks in their pursuit of mastery.
  • Lastly, archery serves as a timeless and meditative practice, offering moments of solitude and reflection while honing a timeless skill.

Courses

Our archery program is split into 3 courses: Level 1, Beginner; Level 2 Intermediate; and Level 3 Advanced.

Level 1

This course focuses on the beginner archer. We call this level "Tuning the archer". In this course the student is introduced to the basics: stance, posture, holding the string and bow, drawing the bow, anchor, release and follow-through.  The differences between Traditional, Barebow and Olympic shooting is discussed.

Level 2

This course focuses on "Tuning the bow" although coaching the archer through the shooting process is still evident. This course teaches how to customize the arrows by cutting the length for the archers' draw length to putting on fletchings. Tuning the bow incorporates how to set the brace height and the use of weights, arrow rests and plungers.

Level 3

This is the advanced level course aimed at students who have been through the previous course or for shooters who have been shooting for a while and want help to improve their shooting.  The use of sights and compound bows are introduced.
