For the past couple of weeks Cogeco Cable has been recording our instructors and students demonstrating our various styles of martial arts.  These are being aired on Cogeco during the week. Consult the cable listing for the next airing.

 

New Fall Tai Chi Classes

7AM - 8AM Classes, Monday and Wednesday

Too tired to face a Tai Chi Class after work?  Or do you feel you need to ease into your hectic work schedule with a relaxing set of exercises?  Then we have the classes for you.  Beginning on September 13th, Master Chun Lan will be conducting morning classes.  

8AM -  10 AM Saturday Mornings

Beginning on September 18th, Master Chun Lan will be teaching 2 hour Tai Chi classes.  These classes are great for the enthusiast who really wants to get into Tai Chi.  For those whose memory ain't that great these days, a 2 hour class will help the ole gray matter get back into shape.

Don't forget, Tai Chi is a great way to lose weight.  Yes, you heard right, you can lose weight doing the slow Tai Chi sets - as much in 30 minutes as running a mile.

Cost for these classes:

 $40 a month plus a yearly membership at 3 Fires ($20 per year).

What to wear?

Loose clothing, socks or flat non marking shoes.

Chun Lan is a new immigrant from mainland China who has been teaching Tai Chi for many years.  Not only a teacher (shifu) but also a competitor winning gold medals in international kung fu tournaments. (See picture above)

Ogunbanwo Abiodun (Abbey, a.k.a Jaw Crusher)

 

Abbey started his boxing career as a amateur light heavyweight boxer,at the age of 13 years in Nigeria.  He had his first competition fight at the age of 16 years and won the state title.  He retained the title for one year then moved on to the Regional state level where he won his first five fights by k.o. within the first 2 rounds of each fight.

 

He won his first Regional State title fight at age 18 years and retained the title for 3 years, defending the title ten times within the period, and won all fight on knockout basis.

 

He suffered his first two defeats on point basis at the age 22 years when he tried going into heavyweight division and the third fight was a knock out.

 

Later he reduced his weight and went back to the light heavyweight division and won the Regional state title which he held for another 2 years.  Defended the title twice then he retired from active boxing.
